1. About us
TheGreatEscape / TGE Fitness is operated by Glenn Lamptey, a sole trader, providing in-person personal training and related fitness coaching.
Email: [email protected]
Training/contact venue: PureGym Purley, Royal Oak Centre, Brighton Road, Purley, CR8 2PG.
TheGreatEscape is an independent personal-training business. PureGym provides the training venue but does not operate, endorse, or accept responsibility for TheGreatEscape’s coaching services.
2. Services
Services may include one-to-one personal training, exercise programming, progress monitoring, general fitness education, accountability support, and non-prescriptive nutrition guidance. Nutrition guidance is educational and is not medical advice or a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian, physiotherapist, or other regulated healthcare professional.
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, each personal-training session lasts 60 minutes.
3. Eligibility and health
You must provide accurate information about injuries, health conditions, medication, pregnancy, symptoms, and anything else that may affect safe participation. You must complete any required health-screening or onboarding questionnaire before training.
You are responsible for seeking medical clearance where appropriate and for stopping immediately and telling the trainer if you feel pain, dizziness, faintness, unusual shortness of breath, or other concerning symptoms. TheGreatEscape may pause or decline training where it would be unsafe or outside the trainer’s professional scope.
Clients under 18 require the prior written consent of a parent or legal guardian and may be subject to additional venue rules.
4. Prices and payment
Single in-person personal-training session: £42, paid once, for 60 minutes.
Gift a 60-minute PT session: £40. Gift-session details appear in section 18.
Online coaching is £90/month for Essential and £150/month for Premium. Package details and any subscription terms will be confirmed with you in writing before purchase. Other packages and recurring plans will also be confirmed before purchase.
For existing clients with an agreed £150 rolling in-person monthly plan, the package includes four 60-minute sessions per monthly billing cycle at PureGym Purley, normally scheduled weekly. Arrangements for five-week months are managed through session carry-over where applicable and confirmed with Glenn. Personalised coaching, technique guidance, progression tracking and ongoing accountability are included. Availability of this price for new customers is not currently confirmed. Section 8 applies to existing agreed plans.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. TheGreatEscape does not receive or store your complete card details. If a recurring payment fails, services may be paused until the balance is paid. Any price change will be communicated with reasonable advance notice, and you may cancel before the new price takes effect.
5. Booking, lateness, and attendance
Payment does not by itself reserve a particular date or time. Sessions must be arranged and confirmed with the trainer.
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early and complete any assigned warm-up. If you arrive late, the session will normally still finish at the scheduled time. A missed session or arrival too late to train safely may be treated as a late cancellation.
6. Client cancellations and rescheduling
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Where less than 24 hours’ notice is given, or you do not attend, the session will normally be treated as used and charged in full. This reflects the time reserved and the reduced opportunity to offer it to another client.
Where at least 24 hours’ notice is given, the trainer will reasonably try to rearrange the session, subject to availability and the terms of your plan. Repeated cancellations or rescheduling may require a review of your regular booking time.
Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Any cancellation charge will be applied fairly and will not exceed the reasonable loss caused by the cancellation.
7. Trainer cancellation
If TheGreatEscape cancels a session, it will be rearranged at a mutually suitable time or credited. If a suitable replacement cannot reasonably be offered, any applicable payment for the undelivered session will be refunded. TheGreatEscape is not responsible for additional indirect costs, such as travel or lost earnings, except where the law requires otherwise.
8. Rolling monthly plan and 30-day notice
For clients with the agreed £150 rolling monthly plan described in section 4, the plan renews automatically each month until cancelled. To cancel, email [email protected] and provide at least 30 days’ written notice. Payments falling due during the notice period remain payable, and coaching remains available during that paid period.
TheGreatEscape will confirm the cancellation date in writing and cancel future Stripe renewals after the notice period. Cancelling a card or payment instruction without giving notice does not by itself end the agreement or remove any amount already due.
Any mutually agreed pause, holiday adjustment, credit, or transfer must be confirmed in writing. Unless required by law or agreed otherwise, sessions and plan access are personal and cannot be transferred to another person.
9. Online and distance-purchase cancellation rights
If you purchase online, by telephone, or away from the trainer’s business premises, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days after the contract is made without giving a reason.
If you ask for coaching or a session to begin during that 14-day period, you expressly request early performance. If you then cancel, TheGreatEscape may charge a proportionate amount for services properly supplied before cancellation. If the service is fully performed during the cancellation period after your express request and acknowledgement, your statutory cancellation right may end. These terms do not reduce any statutory consumer rights.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, send a clear statement to [email protected] including your name, purchase, purchase date, and request to cancel.
10. Refunds
Refunds are not automatic for missed sessions, late cancellations, or a change of mind after any applicable cooling-off period. Refund requests will be assessed fairly against services already delivered, time reasonably reserved, and the circumstances of cancellation. This does not affect your statutory rights where services are not provided with reasonable care and skill, are not as described, or where another legal remedy applies.
11. Conduct and venue rules
You must follow reasonable safety instructions and all PureGym membership, access, equipment, and conduct rules. Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, unsafe, or seriously disruptive behaviour may lead to the session or service being ended. Any financial consequence will be reasonable and consistent with applicable consumer law.
12. Exercise risk and responsibility
Exercise carries inherent risks. By participating, you agree to follow coaching instructions, work within your capabilities, disclose relevant health information, and use equipment responsibly.
TheGreatEscape will provide services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded. Results vary between clients and cannot be guaranteed.
13. Communications and records
You are responsible for keeping your contact and payment information current and for checking messages about bookings, payments, safety, and service changes. Stripe receipts, confirmation emails, coaching records, and written messages may form part of the service record.
14. Privacy
Personal information is handled as described in TheGreatEscape’s Privacy Policy. Health information is treated as sensitive information and used only where there is an appropriate legal basis and special-category condition, such as explicit consent.
15. Complaints
Please raise concerns promptly by emailing [email protected]. TheGreatEscape will aim to acknowledge a complaint within five working days and work towards a fair resolution.
16. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated for legal, safety, operational, or service reasons. Material changes affecting an existing rolling plan will be communicated in advance. Changes will not remove rights already accrued or statutory rights.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers retain any mandatory right to bring a claim in the courts applicable to them.
18. Gift a PT session
A gift session costs £40 and provides one 60-minute 1-to-1 personal-training session at PureGym Purley. It is valid for six months from purchase and subject to availability. The recipient must complete appropriate pre-exercise screening before training.
Contact Glenn to arrange the recipient’s booking and check gym access requirements. Payment does not reserve a date or time. The cancellation, refund and statutory-rights provisions above also apply as relevant.
